Philosophy: The Cal Ripken Jr. League Program is a developmental and competitive program that plays in a Dane County league and is affiliated with the state and national Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken organization. At the Cal Ripken level, our goal is to focus on player development while playing in a more competitive league. Coaches are certified through the Cal Ripken Jr / Babe Ruth Organization. Teams play against teams from surrounding communities and could play their way to state and national tournaments. Teams may play in weekend tournaments. This program requires more commitment by players, coaches and parents. The number of teams created will depend on interest. The teams may play 20-30 games including weekend tournaments. Teams will practice before and throughout the season to facilitate learning the fundamentals of the game. For more information see http://www.baberuthleague.org/calripkendiv.html
Season: Practice begins in late April and games begin in mid May. Games are typically on Tuesday and Friday evenings for 10 and under and Monday and Friday for 12 and under. Games typically begin at 6:00 PM. The Dane County league is completed around the 2nd weekend in July. There is a state tournament for each age level that takes place after the season. Coaches will decide if teams will participate in post season play.
Team Composition: Teams are organized based on the number of players registered and results of the evaluations. Teams may have a maximum of 15 players and are typically comprised of 12-13 players. Evaluations are used to ensure players are ready to play in the competitive program and effectively form teams. All players will be on a team. Players not placed on a Cal Ripken team will be matched with a team in the Little Bucks program. The evaluations are held in early April. Team composition is determined by the Commission and the League Commissioner. > READ MORE ABOUT CAL RIPKEN > REGISTER ONLINE
